IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI
Title
AN ORDINANCE enabling the County to provide funds to volunteer organizations assisting with the Christmas in the Park program by supplying staff for nightly collections and authorizing the County Executive to execute agreements with certain organizations to provide these services in connection with the 2004 Christmas in the Park event, at a cost to the County not to exceed $38,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, the Parks and Recreation Department will sponsor its 2004 Christmas in the Park event from November 24 to December 31, 2004; and,
WHEREAS, at this event, held at the Longview Lake Campground, visitors will tour, by automobile, lighted holiday displays erected by parks staff; and,
WHEREAS, the costs of the event are paid out of donations collected from those viewing the displays; and,
WHEREAS, the department has traditionally used workers from various community organizations to assist the department in traffic control and collecting donations at the event; and,
WHEREAS, as compensation for supplying the staff, the department proposes to pay each participating organization a share of the total proceeds collected for the event in an amount not to exceed $1,000.00 per organization; and,
WHEREAS, for 2004, the department proposes to contract with the thirty-eight (38) organizations stated on the attached agreements (Exhibit A) for their services; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute agreements with the thirty-eight (38) organizations as specified in Exhibit A for supplying staff for nightly collections for the 2004 Christmas in the Park program at a cost not to exceed $1,000 per organization for a total cost to the County not to exceed $38,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the agreements.

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
