Body
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has requested funding for two staff positions within the Food Protection Program of the Public Works Department; and,
WHEREAS, Ordinance 3889, adopted on April 16, 2007, increased food establishment permit fees to support he increased costs of the Food Protection Program; and,
WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the two staff positions will be funded by the proceeds of the increased inspection/permit fees authorized by Ordinance 3889; and,
WHEREAS, U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Standard 8 recommends a staffing level of one full-time food inspector for every 280 - 320 inspections performed; and,
WHEREAS, Jackson County Environmental Health food inspectors (currently four inspectors) are scheduled to conduct 2,008 inspections resulting in the need for two (2) additional full-time food inspectors under the FDA standard to support the Food Inspection Program; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer is necessary to establish the new positions; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said transfer; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer within the 2007 Health Fund be and hereby is made:
