AN ORDINANCE appropriating $33,410.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 2000 Criminal Justice Improvement Fund and authorizing Change Order No. 19 to the contract with Walton Construction Co. of Kansas City, MO (Bid No. PW-2345, Bid Package No. 8), for various changes required in connection with general construction for the expansion at the Jackson County Detention Center, increasing the contract amount by $33,410.00.

Body

WHEREAS, the County did, by Resolution 11712, dated April 14, 1997, enter into a contract with Walton Construction Co., Inc., in the actual amount of $6,762,426.00, and authorized additional expenditures to be approved by the County Executive at a cost not to exceed $338,121.00, for a total amount not to exceed $7,100,547.00, for general construction for the expansion at the Jackson County Detention Center; and,

 

WHEREAS, the County Executive and/or Legislature have approved Change Orders 1 through 18 for a total of $836,077.00, adjusting the contract amount to the current authorization of $7,598,503.00; and,

 

WHEREAS, the proposed Change Order No. 19, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated  herein by reference, is necessary due to miscellaneous contract changes and additions, and said change order will result in an increase not to exceed $33,410.00, respectively, for a new total cost not to exceed $7,631,913.00; therefore,

 

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made from the unappropriated surplus of the 2000 Criminal Justice Improvement Fund:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that Change Order No. 19 to the aforesaid contract is approved and the County Executive is authorized to execute the change order on behalf of the County; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, except final payment on the contract.

Effective Date:  This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
