A RESOLUTION congratulating Blue Springs High School senior Tyler Hubbard upon his victory in the 119-pound division at the 2000 Missouri State Class 4A Wrestling Championship.

RESOLUTION # 13131, March 13, 2000

 

INTRODUCED BY   Terry Young, County Legislator

 

 

Body

WHEREAS, Tyler Hubbard, a senior at Blue Springs High School, has achieved a series of impressive wins as a wrestler for the Wildcats; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tyler wrestled in the 103-pound weight class in his freshman year in high school, ranking 6th in the state; and,

 

WHEREAS, during his sophomore and junior years in school he wrestled in the 112-pound weight class, leading his team to the 4A title; and,

 

WHEREAS, as a senior in the 119-pound class, Tyler ended his high school wrestling career with 144 straight victories, winning his third consecutive Class 4A state wrestling title; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tyler was able to accomplish this win despite going into the final with a torn anterior cruciate ligament of the knee; and,

 

WHEREAS, with only five wrestlers at the meet, the Wildcats took home a third-place team trophy; and,

 

WHEREAS, guiding Tyler to his outstanding win was his coach, Mike Hagerty; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tyler plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa on a wrestling scholarship, majoring in either computer science or actuarial science; and,

 

WHEREAS, Tyler is the son of Ray and Tammy Hubbard of Blue Springs; therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislator of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Tyler Hubbard on becoming the fifth ever undefeated state champion to win the state wrestling championship in any class for three consecutive years, and wishes him continued success in his wrestling career with the University of Northern Iowa.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
