Body
WHEREAS, Section 1040.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, eliminates the requirement for competitive bidding when items to be purchased can be obtained from only one source; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1063.00 of the Code requires notification of and approval by the Legislature on such sole source purchases exceeding $5,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director recommends a contract with Glasspec Associates Ltd., of Miami, FL, for the furnishing of stackable cots for use by the Corrections Department; and,
WHEREAS, the Purchasing Director further recommends that he not take competitive bids with regard to this contract for the reason that his previous Invitation to Bid for stackable cots, No. 66-93 issued in June, 1993, resulted in only one response, that of Glasspec, and the Purchasing Director believes it is the only supplier in the country of the type of stackable cots required; therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Purchasing Director be, and hereby is, authorized to execute for the County a contract with Glasspec Associates Ltd., of Miami, FL for the furnishing of stackable cots for use by the Corrections Department, in an amount not to exceed $7,240.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Manager of the Division of Finance is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract thereby made.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
