WHEREAS, since 2016 the County Counselor has contracted with Ronald L. Jurgeson of Lee’s Summit, MO, to provide independent legal services and representation to the County’s Board of Equalization (BOE); and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 21145, dated January 30, 2023, the Legislature did authorize an extension of this contract through December 31, 2023; and,
WHEREAS, by Resolution 21474, dated December 4, 2023, the Legislature did authorize an extension of this contract through January 31, 2024; and,
WHEREAS, the County Counselor now recommends an addendum to this contract to extend said agreement through July 31, 2024; and,
WHEREAS, the County Counselor now recommends an addendum to this contract to compensate Mr. Jurgeson for the time that will be necessary to adequately advise the BOE through the appeals dockets, at a cost to the County not to exceed $20,000.00; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute an increase to the Legal Services Agreement with Ronald L. Jurgeson of Lee’s Summit, MO, for a term ending July 31, 2024, at an additional cost to the County not to exceed $20,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make any and all payments required by the Agreement and all addenda thereto.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
