Body
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit West High School Westside Girls Dance Team won the Missouri State 5A Dance Team Championship, held February 15 at Kemper Arena in Kansas City, MO; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to its championship title, the dance team placed first in jazz dance and prop dance and were the overall highest scoring team by 6.5 points; and,
WHEREAS, the Westside Girls were undefeated during the 2013-2014 season, earning first place finishes at the Yvonne Cole Lindbergh Invitational, the Kansas City Classic, and the Lee's Summit North Dance Invitational; and,
WHEREAS, the Westside Girls State Championship makes the 20th state championship title for Lee's Summit West in the past 10 years and is the fourth state championship for the Westside Girls, with previous wins in 2008, 2010, and 2011; and,
WHEREAS, the Lee's Summit West Westside Dance Team is led by Head Coach Khryssie Hartman and Assistant Coaches Julie Kemma and Kendra Burke; and,
WHEREAS, the Dance Team members are Lindsay Brady, Katie Britton-Mehlisch, Maddy Burkett, Emma Costello, Mackenzie Hayes, Becca Hopkins, Morgan Holecek, Brianna Knipp, Lydia Ganaden, Megan Garcia, Amelia Nill, Elise Nill, Clayre Parson, Alex Prstojevich, Monika Rettler, Haley Schauperl, and Tara Stewart; and,
WHEREAS, the parents and classmates of the Lee's Summit West High School Westside Dance Team are proud of the team's outstanding showing in the competition; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates the Lee's Summit West High School Westside Dance Team on winning the Missouri State 5A Dance Team Championship.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
