Body
WHEREAS, the Eastern Jackson County Courthouse located at 308 W. Lexington, Independence, MO, is in need of maintenance and repair to preserve the building; and,
WHEREAS, the Courthouse was built in two phases with the first part constructed in 1948 and an addition constructed in 1972; and,
WHEREAS, the older portion of the structure needs tuck pointing, brick repair, window caulking, building joint caulking, painting, step replacement, and the entire building exterior is to be cleaned and sealed to restore the original appearance; and,
WHEREAS, the Acting Director of Public Works solicited proposals for this project on Bid No. PW 04-2013 and received three submissions thereon, as follows:

and,
WHEREAS, the Acting Director of Public Works recommends the award of a contract for the Eastern Jackson County Courthouse Exterior Renovations Project, No. 3172 to Performance Contracting, Inc., of Grandview, MO, under the terms and conditions of Bid No. PW 04-2013, in an amount not to exceed $325,376.00, as the lowest and best bidder; and,
WHEREAS, in the event that line item adjustments to the contract become necessary, it is appropriate that the Acting Director of Public Works be authorized to approve said line item adjustments to the extent there is no additional cost to the County; and,
WHEREAS, this project is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Acting Director of Public Works, and that the County Executive be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
