A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute a Continuing Education Service Agreement with the Metropolitan Community College District of Kansas City, Missouri, to provide for mandatory peace officer training for sworn personnel of the Sheriff's Department, at a cost to the County not to exceed $11,985.00.

Body
WHEREAS, chapter 590, RSMo, requires sworn law enforcement personnel to undergo certain continuing law enforcement training on an annual basis; and,
WHEREAS, the sheriff has negotiated an agreement with the Metropolitan Community College District of Kansas City, Missouri, which operates the Eastern Jackson County Regional Police Academy on its Independence campus, whereunder the District will provide all required training for sworn personnel of the Sheriff's Department at a cost most advantageous to the County; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Continuing Education Service Agreement adequately recites the agreement and understanding of the parties; and,
WHEREAS, the execution of this agreement is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Continuing Education Service Agreement with the Metropolitan Community College District of Kansas City, Missouri; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment of the agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
