Body
WHEREAS, there is a need for legal services from Spencer Fane Law Firm as this law firm has experience handling legal services for the County previously; and,
WHEREAS, the Jackson County Legislature has sought representation for itself in this matter and informally reviewed the qualifications of competent attorneys and law firms; and,
WHEREAS, legal representation is needed to handle legal proceedings and matters; and,
WHEREAS, the Chair of the Jackson County Legislature has selected Spencer Fane Law Firm of Kansas City, MO to advise the Jackson County Legislature in certain matters; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1030.1 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, the Interim Director of Finance and Purchasing and the Legislature recommend the award of a contract for legal services for use by Jackson County to Spencer Fane Law Firm of Kansas City, MO, as a sole source purchase; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Chairman of the Jackson County Legislature be and hereby is authorized to execute a legal services agreement with Spencer Fane Law Firm of Kansas City, MO, for legal advise at a cost to the County not to exceed $100,000.00; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Interim Director of Finance and Purchasing and the County Legislature, and that the Interim Director be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary for the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Interim Director of Finance and Purchasing is authorized to make all payments, including final payment, on the contract.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
