Body
WHEREAS, Andrew Storey, a senior at Lee's Summit High School, recently received the highest rating, superior, in the National Scholastic Press Association/Journalism Education Association Write-off contest; and,
 
WHEREAS, the write-off contest provides students with a packet of information and pictures, and requires them to write their best story, complete with captions and a headline; and,
 
WHEREAS, Andrew was one of only two students to receive the superior rating in the yearbook copy and captions: sports category; and,
 
WHEREAS, there were more than 250 participants in Andrew's category, with 2,267 students competing in various print and broadcast journalism areas; and,
 
WHEREAS, Andrew is the Sports Editor of the Lee's Summit High School Reflector yearbook, a member of the varsity football team, a member of DECA, an honor student, and has previously been named Business Student of the Month; and,
 
WHEREAS, Andrew plans to attend the University of Missouri School of Journalism in the fall; and,
 
WHEREAS, Andrew's parents, Mark and Shelly, join him in celebrating his superior rating; now therefore,
 
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Andrew Storey on receiving a superior rating in the National Scholastic Press Association/Journalism Education Association Write-off contest, and wishes him well in all his future endeavors.
 
 
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
