Body
WHEREAS, the National Parent-Teacher Association named Pat Crowe, principal at James Lewis Elementary School in Blue Springs, as recipient of the 2001 National PTA's Phoebe Apperson Hearst Outstanding Educator Award; and,
WHEREAS, the goal of the award is to recognize local and national educators who demonstrate excellence and commitment to the objectives of the PTA; and,
WHEREAS, Pat receives an all expense-paid trip to the National PTA Convention in Baltimore, where he will receive the award, a commemorative gift, and a cash award of $2,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, "The PTA sees Pat as an outstanding principal and deserving of the award," said PTA president, Michelle Long; and,
WHEREAS, the PTA unit that nominated Pat will also receive $2,000.00; and,
WHEREAS, Pat is working with the PTA to decide the best way to use the money, saying "We want to find a way to best use the money in order to benefit the children. We just want the kids to know we care and have a lot of fun doing it;" and,
WHEREAS, Pat is willing to do just about anything for his students to make sure they know he is involved in what they are doing, including holding special lunches once per month with students from each grade level, student vs. staff games, and an end-of-the-year carnival where he volunteers as a target for the sponge throw; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates James Lewis Elementary School principal, Pat Crowe upon being named recipient of the 2001 National PTA's Phoebe Apperson Hearst Outstanding Educator Award.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
