Body
WHEREAS, Ordinances 5726, 5728, and 5731 are now pending before the Legislature, any one of which would, if adopted, ban the practice known as “conversion therapy”; and,
WHEREAS, even though separate public notice of the adoption of this ban would not be legally required, it is the intent of the Legislature that, if such an ordinance is adopted, the County should arrange for the one-time publication and distribution of a broad public notice of the adoption of this ban using print media, social media, and the County’s website, through the Office of Communications; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer is required to make available the funds required for the notice; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer within the 2023 General Fund be and hereby is made:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Communications is hereby requested to arrange for the one-time publication of a broad public notice of the County’s adoption of an ordinance banning the practice of conversion therapy, via print media, social media, and the County’s website, once such a ban is adopted by ordinance.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
