Body
WHEREAS, the County solicited written proposals for group dental insurance for County employees for the 2003 contract year; and,
WHEREAS, Fortis was awarded the contract for group dental insurance with a second- year rate guarantee; and,
WHEREAS, Fortis has maintained low cost to employees and the County for many years and has proposed no rate increase for any plan for 2004; and,
WHEREAS, the Administration and the County's dental broker recommend the following group dental plans and rates:

therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Protective/Fortis for employee group dental insurance coverage, as set out above.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.

This award is made on a need basis and does not obligate Jackson County to pay any specific amount. The availability of funds for specific purchases will, of necessity, be determined as each using agency places its order, with certification made at that time within amounts previously budgeted for the spending agency.
