RESOLUTION # 14788, November 10, 2003
INTRODUCED BY Dennis Waits and Scott Burnett, County Legislators
Body
WHEREAS, Executive Order 03-29, dated November 3, 2003, established procedures for the recognition by County officials of identification cards issued by the Mexican and other foreign consulates; and,
WHEREAS, the Legislature concurs in the belief that foreign nationals, regardless of their immigration status, must have verifiable identification in order to enhance their contact with law enforcement and other governmental agencies and to provide them with the ability to carry out daily commerce activities; and,
WHEREAS, recognition of these consular identification cards is for identification purposes only and does not establish an individual's legal status in this country or specifically allow entitlement to status or services under the authority of other jurisdictions; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature fully supports Executive Order 03-29 which established procedures for the recognition of identification cards issued by the Mexican and other foreign consulates.
