AN ORDINANCE amending the Jackson County Master Plan "Strategy for the Future" with an Area Plan known as "Home at the Lakes."

 

 

Intro

ORDINANCE 3137, March 12, 2001

 

 

 

Body

WHEREAS, Barber & Sons Company, Inc., has filed an application to amend the Master Plan "Strategy for the Future," adopted January 1994, with an Area Plan known as "Home at the Lakes;" and,

 

WHEREAS, the Plan Amendment encompasses approximately 2,250 acres and generally covers the land area north of US 50 Highway on the east and west side of  Missouri 7 Highway, east of Milton-Thompson Road and generally on the north and south sides of Langsford Road; and,

 

WHEREAS, "Home at the Lakes" is a proposed residential development of approximately 2,250 acres, containing approximately 4,800 single-family homes, and five lakes, totaling approximately 275 acres, are included in the development; and,

 

WHEREAS, the plan also illustrates future land uses such as 122.5 acres for commercial land uses, 227.8 acres of public land (schools, dedicated park land and marina, post office, and library), and 23.3 acres of general office land uses; and,

WHEREAS, the Jackson  County Master Plan "Strategy for the Future" outlines general policy statements when considering area plans, such as policy 17.5 which states that the County may adopt area plans to establish special goals and policies affecting remote development centers in the unincorporated area and policy 17.6 which states that Jackson County may adopt or modify area plans with the participation of the residents and property owners of the affected area and with involvement of affected organizations or interested parties; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Jackson County Plan Commission, on February 15, 2001, held a public hearing and accepted testimony pertaining to the Master Plan Amendment wherein there were several surrounding properties and interested parties in opposition to the proposed Area Plan, and the Jackson County Plan Commission unanimously failed to recommend approval of the Master Plan Amendment  "Home At The Lakes" Area Plan; now therefore,

 

BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature, hereby amends the Jackson County Master Plan "Strategy for the Future" by incorporating therein the Area Plan "Home At The Lakes."

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
