Body
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works has recommended that a new fee be added to the schedule of fees for food safety permits, to allow non-profit organizations to better afford compliance with the County's environmental health program; and,
WHEREAS, this new fee will require an amendment to the definitions section to chapter 40 of the County Code and an amendment to that chapter's fee schedule; and,
WHEREAS, the Director has also recommended that the title of chapter 40 be changed to "Food Safety and Environmental Health;" and,
WHEREAS, the recommended amendments are in the best interest of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, as follows:
Section A. Enacting Clause. Section 4010., Jackson County Code, 1984, is hereby amended to add the following definition to be inserted in the section at the proper location in alphabetical order:
Non-Profit Organization Food Establishment. A Food Establishment operated by a non-profit organization. A non-profit organization shall submit proof of 501(c) exemption form or other tax-exempt letter with its application.
Schedule I to chapter 40, Jackson County Code, 1984, is hereby amended to add the following fee, to be inserted in the schedule at the proper location in alphabetical order:
Non-Profit Food Establishment. An annual fee of twenty-five dollars ($25) shall be charged for each permanent Food Establishment that is operated by a Non-Profit Organization.
Section B. The title of chapter 40 is hereby changed to "Food Safety and Environmental Health."

Effective Date: This Ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
