Body
WHEREAS, Morgen Christine Kohtz, a senior at Lee's Summit North High School, has been awarded the 2012 President's Volunteer Service Award; and,
WHEREAS, the award recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of time to serve their communities and their country; and,
WHEREAS, the President's Volunteer Service Award is sponsored by the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, on behalf of President Barack Obama; and
WHEREAS, Morgen has documented 292 community service hours and has served as a youth camp leader, has tutored students in the Lee's Summit after-school program, and has volunteered with Mormon Helping Hands sorting clothes for Joplin tornado relief and assisted with food drives; and,
WHEREAS, Morgen is a member of the National Honor Society and the Principal's Honor Roll, and has received letters for academics, lacrosse, and outdoor and indoor track; and,
WHEREAS, Morgen is involved with many school activities, including membership in the Student Senate, the Thespian Society, the Spanish Club, the A+ Program, the Interact Club, the Latin Club, and Club 121; and,
WHEREAS, Morgen's proud parents, Susan Gass Kohtz and Arthur Kohtz, join in her celebration of this honor; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Morgen Christine Kohtz upon receiving the President's Volunteer Service Award, and extends best wishes to her in all of her future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
