WHEREAS, the Museum of Kansas City is an historic and cultural landmark dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich heritage of Kansas City, offering educational programs, community events, and exhibits that enrich our shared history; and,
WHEREAS, the annual Kentucky Derby Party hosted by the Museum of Kansas City is a cherished event that captures the spirit of the iconic horse race, creating an exciting atmosphere that brings the community together through tradition, style, and camaraderie; and,
WHEREAS, the Kentucky Derby Party has become a beloved annual gathering, showcasing elegant fashion, vibrant hats, delicious southern-inspired cuisine, and live entertainment, all on the beautiful and historic grounds of the Museum of Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, proceeds from the Kentucky Derby Party directly support the museum’s educational programming, preservation efforts, and community outreach initiatives, significantly contributing to the vitality and continued success of this essential community institution; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes and celebrates the Museum of Kansas City’s Kentucky Derby Party on May 3, 2025, commending the museum staff, volunteers, patrons, and community members for their ongoing dedication and commitment to preserving Kansas City’s cultural heritage and fostering community spirit.
