Body

 WHEREAS, Miriam Hennosy, Executive Assistant to the County Executive, will retire June 30, 2023, after serving Jackson County with exceptional skill, dedication, and professionalism; and,

 

WHEREAS, Miriam was born in Columbia, Missouri, the daughter of Virgil and Judy Hein, and after living in Pennsylvania, returned to Missouri to attend college, earning a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Missouri system; and,

 

WHEREAS, after working for twenty years for the National Association of Insurance Commissioners, Miriam brought her exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to handle complex tasks with grace to the County Executive's office, enabling the successful implementation of crucial initiatives and programs through the transition of two administrations; and,

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Miriam’s remarkable professionalism, kindness, and outstanding interpersonal skills have fostered a welcoming and supportive environment within the County Executive's office, earning her the respect and admiration of colleagues, staff members, and constituents alike; and,

 

WHEREAS, Miriam has consistently demonstrated the highest standards of integrity, discretion, and dedication to public service, serving as an inspiration and role model to her peers and aspiring professionals in Jackson County; and,

 

WHEREAS, Miriam, driven by her unwavering commitment to social justice and civil rights, has actively engaged in initiatives aimed at fostering equality and inclusivity throughout her life, making a meaningful impact on the lives of many; and,

 

WHEREAS, Miriam carries the torch passed on by the late political activist Hila “Dutch” Newman, her friend and mentor, advocating for positive change and striving to make a difference in her community; and,

 

WHEREAS, Miriam, a prominent leader within the AIDSWalk Kansas City community, has dedicated her time, energy, and resources to raising awareness and supporting individuals affected by this devastating illness, exemplifying her compassion and empathy; and,

 

WHEREAS, Miriam is an avid gardener, sharing flowers, jams, jellies and other delights from her garden with her co-workers, friends and family; and,

 

WHEREAS, Miriam’s husband of 32 years, freelance writer Kevin Hennosy, has been a constant source of support and understanding throughout her distinguished career; and,

 

WHEREAS, as Miriam embarks on the next chapter of her life, the Legislature acknowledges and celebrates her remarkable achievements, her immeasurable contributions to the governance and welfare of Jackson County, and the lasting impact she has made on the lives of countless individuals; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature extends its heartfelt congratulations and deepest appreciation to Miriam Hennosy for her exceptional service, dedication, and unwavering commitment and wish her all the best in her retirement.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
