WHEREAS, newspapers are an integral part of the fabric of our community; and,
WHEREAS, the citizens of Jackson County desire and deserve the highest quality of newspaper reporting; and,
WHEREAS, The Examiner is a prime example of a paper which takes its responsibility seriously by reporting the news in a professional and informative manner; and,
WHEREAS, its motto, "Proud Past, Exciting Future" suitably fits the 100 years The Examiner has been in existence and its expectations for the future; and,
WHEREAS, The Examiner has earned distinction as a paper which strives to be insightful and supports the community's interests; and,
WHEREAS, the staff of The Examiner, past and present, deserves the highest of praise for its many years of quality reporting; now therefore;
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates The Examiner upon the occasion of its 100th anniversary, and looks forward to many more years of outstanding reporting by its talented staff.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
