A RESOLUTION authorizing the Purchasing Director to execute a Deed of Gift in favor of the Jackson County Historical Society concerning an historical document.

RESOLUTION #13644, April 2, 2001

INTRODUCED BY Bob Spence, County Legislator

Body

WHEREAS, in connection with a search of some old County records, County staff discovered an audit report titled Jackson County, Missouri, Report on Examination, prepared by the firm of Arthur Young & Co., for the year ending December 31, 1923; and,

WHEREAS, while this document has no present value to the County and is excess to the County's needs, the County Executive recognized that it could have historical value and contacted the Jackson County Historical Society; and,

WHEREAS, the Society has examined the document and requested that it be donated so that it can be added to the Society's permanent collection; and,

WHEREAS, the attached Deed of Gift provides a suitable mechanism by which to effect this donation; now therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the above-described document be and hereby is declared surplus personal property; and,

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Purchasing Director be and hereby is authorized to execute the attached Deed of Gift in favor of Jackson County Historical Society concerning the audit report.

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
