Body
WHEREAS, Michael Antonacci, a Lee's Summit West Senior, was selected for the 2008 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors Missouri's top 100 academic students in the 2008 graduating class; and,
WHEREAS, to be considered for the Missouri Scholars 100, the student must have a minimum GPA of 3.75, a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,900, be ranked in the upper 10 percent of the class, have taken upper-level courses in mathematics, science, English and foreign language, have excellent attendance, be an exemplary school citizen and be involved in school activities; and,
WHEREAS, Mike has a GPA of 4.4 on a 4.0 scale and is ranked 7 out of 338 students in his class; and,
WHEREAS, Mike has also been involved in theater and orchestra, Student Senate all four years of high school, including serving as Treasurer for the 2007-2008 school year, Youth in Government, Novice Chamber Speaker of the House, and is a member of the Executive Branch Leadership Institute; and,
WHEREAS, Mike has taken and excelled in advanced courses in English, math, history, chemistry, and participated in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, studying the Theory of Knowledge, Information Technology in a Global Society, and The Extended Essay; and,
WHEREAS, Mike plans to attend Kettering University in Flint, Michigan, and plans to major in Mechanical Engineering; and,
WHEREAS, Mike's parents, Dave and Paula, and his siblings, Beth and Dominic, join in Mike's celebration of this distinguished award; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby recognizes Michael Antonacci upon his selection as a Missouri Scholar 100 and wishes him well in all his future endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
