Body

 

WHEREAS, the J.S. Chick and Sanford B. Ladd African Centered Elementary Schools Spelling Bee Exposition is the result of the collaborate effort of the Kansas City Missouri School District, the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Education, the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Alumni Association Minority Affairs Committee; and,

 

WHEREAS, the overall objectives of the Spelling Bee Exposition include introducing urban African American children to a world-class institution of higher education located within the boundaries of Kansas City, Missouri, and to dispel the myths associated with a perception of lack of progress and underachievement of African American students; and,

 

WHEREAS, the J.S. Chick and Sanford B. Ladd African Centered Elementary Schools Spelling Bee Exposition will be held February 24, 2006 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Education, Room 119; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature encourages all members of the metropolitan community to offer their support and encouragement to the students and schools participating in this monumental and worthwhile endeavor.

                                                               

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
