Body
WHEREAS, by Resolution 18203, dated June 24, 2013, the Legislature authorized the execution of a two-year lease agreement between Jackson County and Children's Mercy Hospital for the furnishing of office space for use by the Medical Examiner's Office, at a cost of $1.00 per year; and,
WHEREAS, this lease agreement was necessary because Truman Medical Center sold the building where the Medical Examiner's Office is located to Children's Mercy Hospital and the County needed adequate time to seek an alternative permanent location; and,
WHEREAS, the County has now reached an agreement with Truman Medical Center for a new location for the Medical Examiner's Office in the Hospital Hill area, beginning in June 2015; and,
WHEREAS, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Truman Medical Center will adequately sets out the rights and obligations of each party related to the renovation and furnishing of this office space; and,
WHEREAS, as part of this agreement, Jackson County will release $1,000,000.00 in funds currently budgeted and allocated to Truman Medical Center to be used exclusively toward the renovation of the new facility; and,
WHEREAS, the execution of an MOU with TMC, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor, is in the best interests of the health, welfare, and safety of the citizens of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute on behalf of the County an MOU with Truman and Medical Center and any other documents necessary to give effect to this Resolution, in forms to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments required by the MOU.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
