Body
WHEREAS, the Board of Police Commissioners of Kansas City, Missouri, has received a Kansas City Metropolitan Regional Occupant Protection Initiative Grant from the United States Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration; and,
WHEREAS, this grant authorizes and specifies programs to support child safety restraint and seatbelt enforcement in the metropolitan Kansas City area in Missouri and Kansas; and,
WHEREAS, this grant includes authorization to make payment of specified costs and expenses to police departments in the metropolitan Kansas City area; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Department has agreed to participate in the programs authorized by this grant; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Memorandum of Understanding provides a suitable mechanism by which to implement the agreement and understanding of the parties; and,
WHEREAS, in order to make funding under this Memorandum available to the Sheriff's Department, an appropriation is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this appropriation as an amendment to her 1999 recommended budget; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be and hereby is made:
