Body
WHEREAS, the Blue Hills Country Club was established in 1912 and received its name from the surrounding fields that were covered in beautiful blue grass; and,
WHEREAS, the Blue Hills Country Club continues to be culturally diverse, economically vibrant, and deeply connected to the members it services in the community; and,
WHEREAS, Blue Hills Country Club perpetuates its long relationship with area charities that benefit Kansas City and neighboring areas; and,
WHEREAS, for twenty-five years, Blue Hills has had the honor of hosting legendary golfer Tom Watson's Children's Mercy Hospital Gold Classic, which raised over $10 million for the hospital; and,
WHEREAS, this fine event has hosted four of the game's greatest players - Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, and Lee Trevino - and is considered to be one of the largest grossing events of its kind; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to having one of the area's best golf courses, Blue Hills boasts exceptional tennis, social activities, swimming, and junior athletic programs; and,
WHEREAS, Blue Hills is known for offering fellowship and fun for its members, as well as impeccable grounds, and a highly-trained staff; and,
WHEREAS, the members look with pride on the Club's history and look forward with excitement and anticipation for another century at Blue Hills; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Blue Hills Country Club on its 100th Anniversary celebration and wishes the Club and its members continued good fortune in the future in it community and charitable endeavors.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
