INTRODUCED BY DaRon McGee, Megan L. Marshall, Jalen Anderson, Donna Peyton, Manuel Abarca IV, Venessa Huskey, Charlie Franklin, Jeanie Lauer, and Sean E. Smith, County Legislators

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, Jay D. Haden has served Jackson County, Missouri with unwavering dedication and commitment for 40 years, notably as the Chief Deputy County Counselor; and,

 

WHEREAS, throughout his tenure, Jay has consistently displayed an impressive breadth of knowledge on  County business, earning the respect and admiration of his colleagues; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jay's exceptional contributions have garnered numerous prestigious accolades, including the Distinguished Professional Service Award in 1999, the Distinguished Military Award in 2008, and the Distinguished Lifetime Award from the Public Employee's Recognition Day program; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jay's outstanding service to the community was further acknowledged through his receipt of the 2020 International Municipal Lawyers Association James H. Epps III Award for Longevity of Service to a Community; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jay's pursuit of academic excellence is demonstrated by his educational achievements, including a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Rockhurst College, a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City, and a Master of Strategic Studies degree from the United States Army War College; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jay's dedication to serving his country was proven during his military career, wherein he completed two assignments on active duty, first from October 2004 to October 2005, stationed with the 326th Area Support Group at Al Asad Airbase in Iraq, and the second from June 2009 to June 2010, stationed with the NATO Training Mission-Afghanistan at Camp Eggers, Kabul; and,

 

WHEREAS, Jay's selfless service to his country has been recognized through numerous distinguished honors, including the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Services Medal, the Superior Unit Award, and the Combat Action Badge, among others; and,

 

WHEREAS, given Jay's extensive knowledge and unwavering commitment to Jackson County affairs, he is unanimously recognized as the foremost authority on the County code and Charter, readily offering guidance and thorough explanations to incoming administrations without hesitation; and,

 

 

 

WHEREAS, Jay's family, including his wife Ellen, their children Maggie, Becky, and Doug, their respective spouses Alex, Rusty, and Jasmine, as well as their two granddaughters and two grandsons, have been a constant source of support and understanding throughout his distinguished career; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that the Legislature hereby extends its deepest gratitude and admiration to Jay D. Haden for his 40 years of exemplary service to Jackson County, Missouri; and,

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature hereby commends Jay for his vast knowledge, unwavering commitment, and invaluable contributions as the Chief Deputy County Counselor, which have significantly contributed to the County's growth and development and extend our best wishes in his retirement.

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
