Body
WHEREAS, the U. S. Department of Justice has awarded the City of Kansas City a grant in the total amount of $4,345,677.00, of which $1,130,734.01 has been allocated to the County, to be used by the Jackson County Prosecutor's Office and the Jackson County Sheriff's Office; and,
WHEREAS, the Prosecutor's Office was awarded $583,835.01 to provide funding for salaries and benefits for employees for detention space and the Re-Entry Pilot Program, for the period of August 29, 2009, through December 31, 2010; and,
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office was awarded $546,899.00 to provide funding for a Three Man Drug Interdiction Team and law enforcement equipment, for the period of October 1, 2009, through March 31, 2011; and,
WHEREAS, this grant requires no local matching funds; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary in order to place the grant funds in the appropriate spending accounts; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said appropriation; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the fund balance of the 2009 Anti Drug Grant Fund be and hereby is made:
