Title
A RESOLUTION awarding term and supply contracts for the furnishing of cellular phone service and equipment for use countywide to Nextel Wireless of Overland Park, KS, Sprint PCS of Overland Park, KS, and AT&T/Cingular Wireless of Overland Park, KS, under the terms and conditions set forth in Western States Contracting Alliance contracts, existing government contracts of the State of Nevada, to provide for countywide needs for the upcoming one-year period.

Body
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 1040.4 of the Jackson County Code, 1984, the Director of Finance and Purchasing requests authorization for the purchase of cellular phone service and equipment for use countywide under the terms and conditions of existing government contracts of the State of Nevada, administered by the Western States Contracting Alliance; and,
WHEREAS, Section 1064.00, Jackson County Code, 1984 requires that for any such purchase in excess of $25,000.00, the Director of Finance and Purchasing shall submit the purchase to the Legislature for approval; and
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award under the terms and conditions set forth in the existing government contracts of the Western States Contracting Alliance contracts, due to the higher volume discounts offered to larger entities; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made as recommended by the Director of Finance and Purchasing, and that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contracts, to the extent that sufficient appropriations to the using agencies are contained in the annual County budget.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
