Body
WHEREAS, Ronald McFadden, a beloved member of the Kansas City community, passed away unexpectedly on February 27, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of entertainment, dedication, and achievement; and,
WHEREAS, Ronald was a renowned musician, dancer, and entertainer, who performed around the world with his brother Lonnie and their band, The McFadden Brothers, bringing joy and inspiration to audiences of all ages; and,
WHEREAS, Ronald taught at the Paseo Performing Arts Academy in Kansas City and was the first member of the Marching Cobras Drill team, inspiring generations of young musicians and performers; and,
WHEREAS, Ronald was a committed philanthropist, who generously donated his time, talent, and resources to support local charities, schools, and community organizations, including the American Jazz Museum and the International Jazz Festival, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of countless individuals; and,
WHEREAS, Ronald was a devoted family man, who cherished his wife, children, and grandchildren, and was a role model of love, compassion, and integrity; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature does hereby honor the life and achievements of Ronald McFadden, a true Kansas City treasure, whose talent, passion, and generosity will be deeply missed by all who knew him; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Legislature does hereby recognize Ronald McFadden’s contributions to the cultural and artistic landscape of Kansas City and his unwavering commitment to excellence and innovation in music and education; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Legislature does hereby express its heartfelt condolences to the McFadden family, friends, and fans, and extend our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature celebrates the legacy of Ronald McFadden, whose music, dance, and spirit will continue to inspire and uplift future generations of artists and performers in our community and beyond.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
