A RESOLUTION commending Major Gregory Mills on his retirement from the Kansas City Police Department after twenty-eight (28) years of dedicated service.

Body
WHEREAS, Gregory Mills provided twenty-eight (28) years of service to the Kansas City Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, Greg will be leaving the Narcotics Unit to accept the position of Police Chief of the Riverside Police Department; and,
WHEREAS, during his tenure with the Kansas City Police Department, he has served as station clerk, dispatcher trainee, communications dispatcher, probationary police officer, police officer, detective, sergeant, captain, and major; and,
WHEREAS, Greg developed the "Behind the Badge" cable television show in which the department is showcased monthly; and,
WHEREAS, he co-developed the baseball/safety tip card and distribution program servicing fifty-two (52) area law enforcement agencies and producing over five (5) million cards; and,
WHEREAS, he conceptualized and formed a multi-jurisdictional task force targeting career criminals; and,
WHEREAS, he conceptualized and implemented numerous community policy initiatives; and,
WHEREAS, Greg has gained the respect and admiration of colleagues for his hard work and meritorious service in combating the drug problems of Kansas City; and,
WHEREAS, Greg's creativity, intuition, and the problem solving abilities have been a great asset to the Kansas City Police Department and Jackson County, Missouri; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends Major Gregory Mills for his dedication and distinguished career with the Kansas City Police Department, and wishes him success and happiness in his new job.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
