Body
WHEREAS, Heather Crichton, daughter of Marty and Sheila Crichton, and a 2006 graduate of Oak Grove High School, has earned the designation of an Oak Grove recipient of The Kansas City Star's 2006 Scholar-Athlete award; and,
WHEREAS, the Kansas City Star recognizes area seniors who have shown outstanding academic and athletic success by selecting one male and one female from each metro area school providing three nominations based upon grade point average, athletic honors, and faculty recommendation; and,
WHEREAS, Heather has been recognized for her academic achievements with the following awards and honors: Kansas State University Millennium Scholarship, Benjamin L. Underwood Memorial Fund Scholarship, Kansas State Women's Rowing Athletic Scholarship, President's Education Award; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to her remarkable academic success, Heather has lettered all four years in varsity basketball and track, lettered three years in varsity volleyball, has earned All-Conference, All-District, and All-State honors, Most Improved volleyball award, district and sectional high jump champion, volleyball team MVP award, and High Points award; and,
WHEREAS, Heather's future plans are to attend Kansas State University to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Heather Crichton as an Oak Grove High School winner of The Kansas City Star's 2006 Scholar-Athlete award and extends sincere best wishes for continued success in her endeavors now and in the future.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
