Legislature As A Whole Floor Amendment November 12, 1996 IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION authorizing the County Executive to execute Intergovernmental Agreements with the Mid-America Regional Council Solid Waste Management District and the City of Kansas City, MO, to provide access to the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Center for the residents of the unincorporated county, at an initial cost not to exceed $1,992.00 and $8,915.90 in 1997. Intro RESOLUTION #11501, November 12, 1996 INTRODUCED BY John C. Graham, County Legislator Body WHEREAS, by Resolution 10878, dated June 12, 1995, the Legislature authorized a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Kansas City, Missouri, allowing the residents of the unincorporated county to participate in the city's Household Hazardous Waste Clean Days event; and, WHEREAS, said event proved to be a successful springboard for a permanent Household Hazardous Waste Center, in accordance with the Mid America Regional Council (MARC) Solid Waste Management District's Management Plan; and, WHEREAS, through cooperation in government, the cities of Kansas City and Lee's Summit and MARC are establishing Regional Household Hazardous Waste Centers to provide citizens with a place to take their hazardous waste and provide education on proper purchasing, use, storage, and disposal of household chemicals; and, WHEREAS, the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Centers will begin operation in January 1997; and, WHEREAS, until the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Centers come on line, the City of Kansas City will allow the 18,970 residents of unincorporated Jackson County to utilize its permanent center, which opened in October 1996; and, WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of its citizens that the County provide access to the Centers for the residents of unincorporated Jackson County; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to enter into Intergovernmental Agreements with the MARC Solid Waste Management District and the City of Kansas City, MO, in forms substantially similar to those attached, to participate in the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Centers, at a cost not to exceed $1,992.00 in 1996 and $8,915.90 in 1997; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of the Department of Finance be and hereby is authorized to make all payments including final payment on the Agreements...Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
