IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION expressing the sympathy of the Legislature to family and friends of Judge Salvatore "Sal" Nigro. Intro RESOLUTION # 12340, September 15, 1998 INTRODUCED BY Victor E. Callahan, Lisa White Hardwick, Fred Arbanas, John Patrick Burnett, Carl W. Bussey, Dennis Waits, Dan Tarwater, Dixie M. Flynn, and John C. Graham, County Legislators Body WHEREAS, it was with great sorrow that family and friends learned of the death of Judge Salvatore "Sal" Nigro; and, WHEREAS, Judge Nigro received his B.A. from the University of Notre Dame and J.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City; and, WHEREAS, after serving two years in the U.S. Air Force as a captain, Judge Nigro entered private law practice in 1954 and was later appointed to the bench as a municipal court judge in 1967 where he served until his retirement in 1990; and, WHEREAS, in 1974 Judge Nigro was honored as Columbian of the Year by the American Sons of Columbus and UNICO Man of the Year; and, WHEREAS, after retirement, Judge Nigro served on the Jackson County Merit Commission; and, WHEREAS, Judge Nigro held memberships in the American Bar Association, American Judicature Society, North America Judges Association, UNICO, Missouri Judges Association, Italian-American Unification Council, Kansas City Bar Association, Kansas City Area Safety Council, and Phi Alpha Delta; and, WHEREAS, Judge Nigro is survived by his wife Donna, son and daughter-in-law Bill and Patti Nigro, son and daughter-in-law Torre and Lisa Nigro, daughter and son-in-law Michele and Pat Haggerty, daughter and son-in-law Karen and Joseph Hilboldt, daughter and son-in-law Mary Lou and John Quinn, daughter and son-in-law Julie and Sam Santee, and stepson and wife Jeffery and Jo Lynne Gouldie; and, WHEREAS, he is also survived by grandchildren Emily, Josie, Courtney, Suzanne, Amy, Laura, Sam, Rachel, Brian, Dan, Kevin, Katie, Molly, Meg, Elizabeth, and Sam; and, WHEREAS, Judge Nigro will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby extends its deepest sympathy to family and friends of Judge Salvatore "Sal" Nigro upon the occasion of his death...Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
