Body
WHEREAS, the County and the City of Independence desire to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein, whereunder the City of Independence Police Department's Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS) program will provide patrolling of the Little Blue Trace bike trail at no cost to the County; and,
WHEREAS, under this arrangement, the County will at no cost provide to the City a "Gator" utility vehicle for use by the VIPS volunteers; and,
WHEREAS, the County has determined that it is in the best interest of its citizenry to authorize the City of Independence to provide these services; and,
WHEREAS, the attached Memorandum of Understanding provides a suitable mechanism by which to implement the mutual goal of the parties; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive be, and is hereby, authorized to execute the Memorandum of Understanding on behalf of the County.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
