A RESOLUTION congratulating Jim and Mona Jones for their forty years of service to the Boy Scouts of America.

Body
WHEREAS, Jim and Mona Jones have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America since 1959 when they were instrumental in establishing Troop and Pack 366 which is sponsored by the Lee's Summit RLDS Church; and,
WHEREAS, Jim and Mona's five sons, Jim, Jeff, Paul, Mike, and Danny, were actively involved in the Scouting program in the early stages of their parents' involvement with Troop and Pack 366; and,
WHEREAS, throughout her notable career with the Scouts, Mona has served as a den leader, den leader coach, committee member, and unit commissioner, and has also served as president of the Mother's Auxiliary, currently holding the position of treasurer and committee member for Pack 366; and,
WHEREAS, Jim graciously served as committee chairman from 1959-1967, and as Assistant District Commissioner for the Thunderbird District until 1987, Union Commissioner for the district for four years, Scoutmaster from 1988 to 1994, and currently holds the position of chartered organization representative for the Pack and Troop, teaches Woodbadge and as a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, holding the rank of Medicine Man on the Tribal Council; and,
WHEREAS, Jim and Mona assisted in the organization of Cub Pack 388, a program created for mentally handicapped Scouts; and,
WHEREAS, Jim and Mona have particularly distinguished themselves through receiving several prestigious awards, including the Award of Merit, the Silver Beaver, and the World Community International Youth Service Award; and,
WHEREAS, Jim and Mona both serve as volunteers in other capacities within their church and community; and,
WHEREAS, admiration, respect, and heartfelt thanks go out to Jim and Mona for giving of their time and talents to Scouting; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Jim and Mona Jones for their forty years of service to the Boy Scouts of America, and for making a positive difference in the many lives of youth who have been guided under their outstanding leadership.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
