Body
WHEREAS, the County Legislature deems it necessary to improve public parks to serve its citizens as well as the traveling public at Fort Osage and Missouri Town 1855 in Fleming Park; and,
WHEREAS, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources provides grant funding under its Local Landmark Parks Program for a grant-in aid of 75 percent of the total cost of the project for renovation/restoration of park facilities; and,
WHEREAS, in order to be considered for a grant, a project proposal must be prepared and submitted to the Department of Natural Resources through the Division of State Parks, Outdoor Recreation Assistance Section; and,
WHEREAS, if a grant is awarded by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, Jackson County will accept all responsibilities under the Local Landmark Parks Program regulations, including, but not limited to, maintenance of the park for public outdoor recreation purposes, compliance with the provisions of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, underground wiring of all telephone and electrical wires under 15 KV within the parks both under the projects proposed and in the future, and provision of facilities which are accessible to and usable by the physically handicapped; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the County Executive is hereby authorized to execute the attached grant applications, incorporated herein by reference, and any other documents necessary to effect the grants applied for.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
