Body
WHEREAS, by Ordinance 4093, dated March 9, 2009, the Legislature did authorize the restoration of the exterior of the Historic Truman Courthouse and its grounds to its 1933 appearance; and,
WHEREAS, because of the need for additional space for the Circuit Court at the Courthouse Annex in Independence, it is desirable that some County operational offices be relocated to the Historic Truman Courthouse, utilizing the vacant office space available there; and,
WHEREAS, to accomplish this, renovation and restoration of the common areas and updating of the office space to accommodate mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC needs at the historic courthouse is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Public Works solicited proposals for the necessary architectural design and construction services and received thirteen submissions thereon; and,
WHEREAS, a review committee made up of representatives of the Municipal Court, the Finance and Purchasing Department, the Public Works Department, and a private attorney, interviewed the four top applicants; and,
WHEREAS, the review committee recommends award of a contract for design and construction architectural services to Piper-Wind Architects, Inc., of Kansas City (Jackson County), MO, at a cost to the County not to exceed $425,679.00; and,
WHEREAS, a transfer is necessary to cover these costs; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends this transfer; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following transfer be made within the 2012 General Fund:

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Executive be and hereby is authorized to execute an Agreement for Professional Architectural Design Services with Piper-Wind Architects, Inc., relating to the renovation of the Historic Truman Courthouse Project, No 3147, in a form to be approved by the County Counselor; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
