Body
WHEREAS, in 1984, Old Northeast, Inc. was established to assist Northeast residents in carrying out housing and housing-related programs; and,
WHEREAS, Old Northeast supports the preservation and revitalization of Northeast neighborhoods through programs involving residents, the private sector, and city and county government; and,
WHEREAS, Old Northeast's approach to achieving its goals includes single- and multi-family housing development and resident and block organizing; and,
WHEREAS, Old Northeast provides crime prevention programs through its Northeast Mobile Crime Watch, educational and entrepreneurial assistance through the Historic Northeast Restoration Corporation, and a Community Action Network (CAN) Team which works with other programs to make the Northeast area a safer place, and provides information and access to city services for Northeast residents through the FOCUS Center; and,
WHEREAS, after fifteen years in existence, Old Northeast, Inc., serves the Independence Plaza, Indian Mound, Lykins, Scarritt Renaissance, and Sheffield neighborhoods; and,
WHEREAS, a celebration to mark this anniversary was held on October 16, 1999, on the grounds of Olive Park Village at 9th and Olive; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature congratulates Old Northeast, Inc. upon its fifteenth anniversary celebration and wishes it many more successful years of service to the Northeast area.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
