A RESOLUTION honoring Bishop James D. Tindall, Sr., on the occasion of his Fortieth Pastoral Anniversary.

Body

 WHEREAS, Bishop James Dennis Tindall, Sr., will celebrate his Fortieth Pastoral Anniversary at special celebrations held December 4 and 11, 2016, at the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall was born to Wallace and Lottie Tindall on June 6, 1942, one of a family of twelve children; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1960, Bishop Tindall graduated from Manual High School, and later he attended the University of Missouri - Kansas City, Carver Bible Institute, and Western Baptist Bible College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and a Bachelor of Science degree in theology; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1976, Bishop Tindall was ordained in Chicago, Illinois, and was installed as the sixth permanent pastor of Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, a church he attended as a youngster with his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Rowe; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1996, Bishop Tindall was appointed the National Overseer of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, Inc., and on November 8, 1996, was elevated to the Sacred Order of Bishop; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall has dedicated his life to seeking out those deemed less fortunate, working in the best interest of those whom he serves and is a persistent advocate for social justice; and,

 

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Bishop Tindall has achieved numerous honors and recognitions, including serving as President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Freedom, Inc., Chairman of the Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ International Board of Directors, and member of the Board of Directors of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall was a member of the Jackson County Legislature from 1983 to 1996 and again from 2007 to 2014, serving as the elected Chairman for six terms; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bishop Tindall is the father of Janie, Tina, Sheila, James, Jr., Cheryl, and James, III, and the grandfather of fourteen; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature hereby congratulates Bishop James D. Tindall, Sr., on the occasion of his Fortieth Pastoral Anniversary and extends best wishes on all of his future endeavors.

Effective Date:  This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
