Body
WHEREAS, Eugene Standifer, Jr., a lifelong resident of Jackson County and the 2nd District, was appointed to the Legislature in 2005 to fill the unexpired term representing the 2nd District; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Standifer has shared his leadership abilities by serving as the Chair of the Inter-Governmental Affairs Committee and a member of the Finance, Anti-Drug, Health and Justice, and Public Works Committees of the Legislature; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Standifer is a graduate of Lincoln High School and earned a Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts degree from Rockhurst University with an emphasis in accounting and economics; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Standifer proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Standifer retired from the Federal government after 41 years of service where he worked for the General Service Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, Department of Housing and Urban Development, Department of Labor, and the United States Postal Service; and,
WHEREAS, after his retirement, he served as a member of the Kansas City Board of Election Commissioners for 8 years ; and,
WHEREAS, Mr. Standifer is an active member of Freedom, Inc., LEPCI, LINC, the Pioneers Club, the Professional Men's Club, and many other civic organizations; and,
WHEREAS, Eugene Standifer, Jr., has provided consistent leadership in his quest for fair, honest, and rational solutions in serving the residents of Jackson County; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature recognizes Eugene Standifer, Jr., for his selfless dedication to the residents of the 2nd District and Jackson County as a whole.
Enacted and Approved
Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
