AN ORDINANCE appropriating $30,007.00 from the unappropriated surplus of the 2002 Health Fund and authorizing the County Executive to execute an Agreement with Truman Medical Center Behavioral Health Services, a division of Truman Medical Center to cover the cost of atypical anti-psychotic medications dispensed at the Jackson County Detention Center at a cost to the County not to exceed $120,000.00.

Body
WHEREAS, health care including treatment for mental illness, is provided to inmates at the Jackson County Detention Center by Truman Medical Center, Inc., under a long contractual arrangement; and,
WHEREAS, the County and Truman Medical Center Behavioral Health Services, a division of Truman Medical desire to enter into an Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated by reference herein, whereunder Truman Medical Center will supplement services; and,
WHEREAS, the County will pay Truman Medical Center the sum of $119,000 for these supplemental services to cover the cost of atypical anti-psychotic medications dispensed at the Detention Center; and,
WHEREAS, in order to fund a portion of this expenditure, an appropriation is necessary; and,
WHEREAS, the County Executive recommends said appropriation as an amendment to her 2002 proposed County budget; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation from the unappropriated surplus of the 2002 Health Fund be and hereby is made:

and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Agreement is hereby approved and that the County Executive is authorized to execute the Agreement on behalf of the County; and,
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Director of the Department of Finance is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the Agreement.

Effective Date: This ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its signature by the County Executive.
