Body
WHEREAS, in approximately two years, the Public Works Department plans to move its entire operations to a new site in Jackson County; and,
WHEREAS, in anticipation of this move, the County has negotiated a Purchase & Sales Agreement with the City of Independence for the sale of the existing County maintenance facility in Independence; and,
WHEREAS, as a condition of the proposed sale, the County will lease back a portion of the facility for a period of approximately two years to house its Maintenance Division; and,
WHEREAS, under the terms of the lease, the monthly rental cost will be $1,618.75 per month, for a total of $38,850 for the two-year period, with utility costs of $61,650; and,
WHEREAS, the total lease and utility costs of $100,500.00 shall be deducted from the sale price of $370,000, leaving a balance of $269,500, which the City of Independence will pay at the time of closing; and,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Director of Public Works is authorized to execute the attached Purchase and Sales Agreement; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works is authorized to execute any and all other documents necessary to close the transaction.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
