A RESOLUTION awarding a contract for the furnishing of greens landscape equipment for the Fred Arbanas Golf Course for use by the Parks + Rec Department to John Deere & Company of Cary, NC, under the terms and conditions of Sourcewell Contract No. 031121-DAC, an existing, competitively bid government contract, at an actual cost to the County in the amount of $807,408.36, and declaring certain existing equipment as surplus personal property and authorizing its disposal by way of trade-in.

Body
WHEREAS, the Parks + Rec Department has a need for greens landscaping equipment to meet departmental needs in order to maintain the Fred Arbanas Golf Course; and,
WHEREAS, a total of twenty pieces of aged equipment are to be included as a trade-in with the purchase of the new greens landscaping equipment; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1030.4, Jackson County Code, 1984, the Directors of Parks + Rec and Finance and Purchasing recommend the award under the existing competitively bid government contract for the reason that this will allow the County to take advantage of significant discounts offered to larger entities; and,
WHEREAS, the Directors of Parks + Rec and Finance and Purchasing recommend the award of a contract for the furnishing of greens landscaping equipment to John Deere & Company of Cary, NC, under the terms and conditions of Sourcewell Contract No. 031121-DAC, an existing, competitively bid government contract, at an actual cost to the County in the amount of $807,409.00; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1142. of the County Code, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends that the obsolete golf course maintenance equipment listed on the attached documentation be declared surplus and used as trade-ins for the purchase of new equipment; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED that award be made under the existing competitively bid government contract as recommended by the Directors of Parks + Rec and Finance and Purchasing and that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the existing golf course maintenance equipment listed on the attached documentation be and hereby are declared surplus personal property and that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to dispose of said personal property by way of trade-in, as recommended; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be and hereby is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contract.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
