IN THE COUNTY LEGISLATURE OF JACKSON COUNTY, MISSOURI Title A RESOLUTION commending Mychael Ramsey for his heroic actions in rescuing three senior citizens from a burning house on December 13, 1993. Intro RESOLUTION #10698, February 27, 1995 INTRODUCED BY Dan Tarwater and James D. Tindall, County Legislators Body WHEREAS, on December 13, 1993, 16-year-old Mychael Ramsey and two other youth observed smoke coming from a south Kansas City home; and, WHEREAS, Mychael immediately rushed to the burning home, crawled through a window, carried an 83-year-old woman from the house, and helped a 67-year-old man and another woman reach safety; and, WHEREAS, it was subsequently announced by the United States Department of Justice that Mychael was one of two youth selected to receive the Young American Medal for Bravery to be presented by President Clinton in a ceremony at the White House; and, WHEREAS, Mychael is a hero by the standards of the citizens of Jackson County and especially by those of the individuals whose lives he saved; and, WHEREAS, 16-year-old Michael deserves praise and a big thank you for acting in such a responsible manner and for displaying the courage he did by entering the smoke-filled house to save these persons; and, WHEREAS, on February 25, 1995, there will be a gathering to honor Mychael at the Wayne Miner Community Center in Kansas City, Missouri; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the Legislature commends Mychael Ramsey for his quick, heroic actions in rescuing these persons and bringing them to safety. Attorney Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
