RESOLUTION NO. 21759, October 7, 2024

 

INTRODUCED BY Manuel Abarca IV, County Legislator

 

 

Body

 WHEREAS, The Hispanic Bar Association of Greater Kansas City (HBAGKC) was founded in 1992 by area Hispanic attorneys and whose mission is to provide Hispanic and Latino individuals with financial assistance, continuing legal education, networking opportunities, and to serve as the voice of the Latino and Hispanic legal community; and,

 

WHEREAS, HBAGKC is one of the oldest diverse bar associations in Kansas City for over 30 years, and who since 2007 have annually hosted a scholarship reception for Local Latinos who are studying law; and,

 

WHEREAS, HBAGKC is an affiliate of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA); and,

 

WHEREAS, Lawyers in HBAGKC dedicate themselves to connecting with law students and becoming mentors through the legal profession; and,

 

WHEREAS, HBAGKC often partners with other organizations to make networking opportunities available by holding events; and,

 

 

WHEREAS, Jackson County recognizes and celebrates the achievements of The Hispanic Bar Association of Greater Kansas City and honors their sincere dedication of Latino students across Jackson County for their desire to study law during Hispanic Heritage Month; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri that resolved this resolution stands as a symbol of deep appreciation for the role this bar association plays in promoting the recruitment and retention of Latino and Hispanic individuals in the legal profession.

 

 

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
