A RESOLUTION recognizing honorarium payments to community volunteers who assisted in the evaluation of non-profit grant applications.

RESOLUTION NO. 22172, February 9, 2026

INTRODUCED BY Sean E. Smith, County Legislator

 

Body

 WHEREAS, Jackson County did establish a community-based review process to assist in the evaluation and scoring of applications submitted by non-profit organizations for county funding; and,

 

WHEREAS, members of the community volunteered their time and professional expertise to serve on a grant evaluation committee and reviewed applications, participated in meetings, and provided recommendations to the Jackson County Compliance Department; and,

 

WHEREAS, these volunteers were not county employees and were not contracted for this work, they were expecting no compensation for their service during this evaluation process; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Legislature finds that the time, effort and skill contributed by these volunteers provided substantial benefit to the County and improved the quality of transparency and fairness in this grant award process; and,

 

WHEREAS, honorarium payments were distributed to each volunteer who participated in this non-profit grant application review process as a token of appreciation for their service and efficient timeliness; now therefore,

 

BE IT RESOLVED that the Jackson County Legislature does formally recognize these volunteers and offers sincere gratitude for their contribution to the non-profit grant process.

 

Enacted and Approved

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
