WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award of twelve (12) month term and supply contracts for the furnishing of cellular phone service and equipment for countywide use to Sprint/Nextel Wireless of Overland Park, KS, and AT&T/Cingular Wireless of Overland Park, KS, under the terms and conditions set forth in Western States Contracting Alliance Contract No. 1523, an existing government contract of the State of Nevada; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to section 1030.4, Jackson County Code, 1984, the Director of Finance and Purchasing is required to submit any purchase under an existing government contract which exceeds $25,000.00, to the County Legislature for approval: and,
WHEREAS, the Director of Finance and Purchasing recommends the award to Sprint/Nextel Wireless of Overland Park, KS, and AT&T/Cingular Wireless of Overland Park, KS, under the terms and conditions set forth in the Western States Contracting Alliance contract, due to the higher volume discounts offered to larger entities; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that award be made to Sprint/Nextel Wireless of Overland Park, KS, and AT&T/Cingular Wireless of Overland Park, KS, as recommended by the Director of Finance and Purchasing, and that the Director of Finance and Purchasing be, and is hereby, authorized to execute for the County any documents necessary to the accomplishment of the award; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance and Purchasing is authorized to make all payments, including final payment on the contracts, to the extent that sufficient appropriations to the using agencies are contained in the then current Jackson County budget.

Effective Date: This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon its passage by a majority of the Legislature.
