Body
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office has received a grant from the Office of Homeland Security in the amount of $500,000.00 for the Emergency Operations Center grant; and,
WHEREAS, fully capable emergency operations facilities at the state and local levels are an essential element of a comprehensive national emergency management system; and,
WHEREAS, the purpose of this grant is to improve emergency management and preparedness capabilities by supporting flexible, sustainable, secure, and interoperable emergency operations centers with a focus on addressing identified deficiencies and needs; and,
WHEREAS, this grant requires local cost sharing funds in the amount of $166,666.67, which was previously appropriated in the budget for the Sheriff's Office's radio system upgrade; and,
WHEREAS, an appropriation is necessary to place the grant funds in the proper spending accounts; now therefore,
BE IT ORDAINED by the County Legislature of Jackson County, Missouri, that the following appropriation be made from the fund balance of the 2013 Grant Fund:
